Fr. Vit Fiala, OFM Director
Fr. Vit Fiala, O.F.M., born and raised in Czechoslovakia, escaped communism, and traveled to Toronto, Canada, where he joined the Franciscan Friars. After finishing his studies in sacred theology, he was moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where he became the director and administrator of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted. He is also the director of the Third Order Franciscans and the Spiritual Director of the Shrine.
Fr. Jules Wong, OFM in Residence, Hospital Ministry
Fr. Jules Wong, O.F.M., was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica. Upon finishing his studies in sacred theology in Jamaica, and receiving a doctorate degree in moral theology from Alphonsianum in Rome, he moved to Toronto, Canada. There he joined the Franciscan Friars, and in the early part of 2000 was transferred to Youngstown, Ohio. Presently, Fr. Jules works as a chaplain at Mercy Health Youngstown, along with his priestly duties at the Shrine.
Mrs. Michelle O’Brian, Office Manager
Mrs. Michelle O’Brien, was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. After receiving a master’s degree in counseling, she worked in the field of education as a vocational evaluator, was an adjunct professor, and a small business owner. She now serves as manager for the Shrine office and gift shop.
